Church President Names New Leaders

The 97-year-old leader of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, President Gordon B. Hinckley, has selected an accomplished educator to be a member of the three-man First Presidency that constitutes the highest governing body of the Church.

The selection of Elder Henry B. Eyring, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, was announced Saturday morning at the first of five sessions of the semi annual General Conference of the Church that attract more than 100,000 people to the Conference Center in downtown Salt Lake City. Millions more tune in to broadcasts around the world.
